The official opening of Boolarng Nangamai Aboriginal Art and Culture Studio in Gerringong, NSW Australia took place on Saturday, 6th August 2005 at the studio.

It was a fantastic turnout for a fantastic project that allows the continuation of Aboriginal culture and awareness in this country. It also allows Aboriginal Art and Culture to be passed on to future generations of Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal people.

Boolarng Nangamai was put together by Kelli Ryan and includes 9 Aboriginal artists: Debbie Callaghan, Mabel Dungay, Bonney Foley, Lila Lawrence, Noel Lonesborough, Anthony Moore, Russell Ping, Steve Russell and Phyllis Stewart. We were introduced to each of the artists and told of their involvement in the creation of Boolarng Nangamai. All had a hand in building the studio from the ground up and what a remarkable story that is. Colin Markham also made a speech about the need for such cultural centres.

Kelli Ryan described the studio as "an airport; a place people can fly into and leave whenever they choose and fly back again later."

Below are some images of the opening.
